Functional Safety – Engineering

A step-by-step approach to hardware and software development projects is key to covering the entire functional safety process.

Hazard analysis and risk assessment

We create and handle your hazard analysis and risk assessment process and the necessary concepts independently – from planning and preparation through to documentation. Safety objectives and safety requirements are identified and the SIL or ASIL level is defined.

Functional Safety Concept

Our experts develop the functional safety concept for your project based on the safety requirements and safety objectives.

Technical Safety Concept

The technical implementation of the defined safety requirements is carried out in cooperation with those responsible for the functional chains as well as with the function developers and hardware / software developers.

When implementing the technical safety concept, we ensure that the specifications are correctly adhered to in accordance with standards such as ISO 26262 and others.

Functional Safety Analysis

At component level, we create a Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) on the one hand and a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on the other.

Validation Plan and Test Plan

Once the development process has been successfully completed, we also secure your products at system level.  We create the validation plan and a tailored test concept.

We provide testers with advice on creating and defining test specifications.

Safety Experts of NTC Systems as Project Partner

The dual control principle is particularly important in development projects. And even more so for the early consideration of all necessary aspects of functional safety. A malfunction with potentially devastating consequences should not be discovered “by chance” during testing. This can set project progress back weeks in the schedule.

That’s why we are particularly pleased when you bring our safety experts on board during the planning process and keep them involved right through to approval.
